Residential Energy Optimization Programs & Incentives

In the State of Michigan, (Public Act 295 of 2008), requires all electric and natural gas providers to achieve energy savings each year by offering energy saving programs to their customers. The Energy Optimization Surcharge recovers the costs of the programs offered to customers.

Energy Efficiency, simply put is using less energy to provide the same level of energy service. It is the most cost effective way to reduce your energy bill and save money.

Through our Energy Optimization Programs, the CBPU has rebates and incentives on energy efficient products that can help you reduce your utility bills as well as your carbon footprint.

Below are the appliances that qualify for energy rebates.  To apply for the rebate incentives, download the appropriate application found under 'Related Documents' on the right of the page.  If you'd like, we can mail you copy or you can stop by our office and pick one up too.

If you are not upgrading or replacing a refrigerator or freezer, but would like to have one removed and properly disposed of from your property, follow the Refrigerator / Freezer (Removal Only) link.
